The ‘Israeli’ web portal Walla reported that a cyber-attack targeted the servers of Pionet, a company that develops information systems and websites. As a result, the websites belonging to the largest ‘Israeli’ hospitals were hacked.

According to Walla, the attack targeted the websites of Rambam Hospital in Haifa, as well as the websites of Hadassah - Ein Kerem and Hadassah - Mount Scopus hospitals in occupied al-Quds. The websites of Sonol [a network of gas stations] and iDigital were also hacked.

Walla stated that “the origin of the attack is not clear,” noting that “Pionet is working with internet experts to recover data in order to return the servers to work and to determine the extent of the damage, and it is working in full cooperation with the ‘Israeli’ cyber directorate to contain the breach."

The news portal also quoted Tom Quinn, an analyst at Security Joes, who said that, “based on our examination, it appears that the Bionet Group website crashed, and a server error exposed sensitive information, which raises the suspicion of a cyber-attack."

“When it comes to cyber-attacks, there is a great deal of concern about the information of patients in those hospitals,” he added.

For its part, Rambam Hospital responded that no damage was caused to the facility. Meanwhile, Assuta Hospital clarified that “the damaged website is a marketing site, and there is no fear of medical information being breached.”
