Lebanon Records 229 Coronavirus Cases, Five Related Deaths

Lebanon recorded 229 coronavirus cases and five Covid-related deaths in the last 24 hours, the Health Ministry said Thursday.

The new cases brought the total number of coronavirus infections in Lebanon since the virus was first detected in the country in February 2020 to 543,169, along with a total of 7,785 deaths.

Out of Thursday’s cases, 31 were detected among incoming travelers to Lebanon.

The cases were discovered among 14, 586 tests, resulting in a two-week positivity rate of 1.7 percent. The report also detailed 141 individuals in hospital with the virus, along with 78 patients in intensive care wards and 21 people on ventilators.

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported that 10,290 first stage vaccines had been administered, bringing the total to 585,721, or 12.3 percent of the eligible population.

Another 7,817 vaccinations were administered as second-stage jabs, bringing the total number to 309,658, or 6.5 percent of the eligible population.
