Hezbollah Congratulates Assad’s Reelection, Hails Massive Turnout as Popular Commitment to National Unity

Hezbollah issued the following statement:

Hezbollah conveys the warmest congratulations and the most honest blessings to His Excellency Dr. Bashar Assad and the brotherly Syrian people on Assad’s reelection as President of the Syrian Arab Republic for a new constitutional term after a massive electoral process that served as a wide-scale popular and political referendum. This was viewed through the massive and unprecedented voter turnout, as well as protests that engulfed the country before, during, and after the electoral process that turned to be a huge national parade all over the Syrian territories that were liberated from the grips of occupation and terrorism.

Syrians have once again proved, through ballot boxes, after proving time and again through their sacrifices and solid stances, their full commitment to the national unity and rejection of division and sectarianism. They also affirmed their commitment to Syria’s political choice all over the course of its modern history, being fully committed to the Palestinian Cause, confronting the occupation and the aggression, and rejecting Takfirism, betrayal, and terrorism.

Hezbollah hopes that the coming years would represent a great chance for Syria’s return to playing its natural and leading role in the Arab world and on the international level. Hezbollah also hopes that all wishes of the Syrian people related to wealth and prosperity come true, with maturing efforts of reconstruction and the return of the refugees, in addition to integrating this process with the liberation of the entire territories that are still under the control of terrorism and occupation.
