Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Qatar, voiced Tehran’s support for regional dialogue in order to ensure peace and stability in the region.

In a meeting with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held in Doha on Sunday, Zarif said Iran’s policy is based on the enhancement of relations with regional countries.

He also noted that Iran welcomes regional dialogue as an absolute necessity for the establishment of regional stability.

Zarif further underscored the need to further diversify the areas of cooperation with Qatar, especially in trade, economic and investment fields.

The two countries enjoy great potential and capacities for closer collaboration, he noted.

The Qatari foreign minister, for his part, pointed to a meeting of the Iran-Qatar Joint Commission held in Iran’s Isfahan, saying another meeting should be held in Doha to further cement mutual trade and economic ties.

The two top diplomats also discussed issues relating to regional and international cooperation between Iran and Qatar.
