In yet another blow to Lebanon’s sovereignty, US ambassador Dorothy Shea and CENTCOM Commander General Kenneth F. McKenzie suddenly landed in the country’s Western Beqaa area in a suspicious timing to inspect a water well that feeds the town of Gaza in the region, which was built and started operating two years ago.

In an exclusive interview with al-Ahed New website, the Lebanese Gaza Municipal, Mohammad al-Majzoub said “he was surprised with the visit that he didn’t know anything about it or the reason behind it,” adding that nobody was allowed to accompany McKenzie and Shea to the place other than the municipal himself.

“The water well project was executed two years ago at the cost of two million two hundred thousand US dollars by the USAID,” the municipal explained, underscoring that the US ambassador had demanded permanent maintenance and taking care of it.”

Majzoub also said that among the delegation was Beqaa Waters Director General Rizk Rizk.

On the other hand, it was remarkable how big the size of the accompanying delegation is: Two helicopters landed in the Sahl [plain] area, and four other helicopters remained hovering the sky, not to mention the hundreds of military and army personnel, most of which are officers who provided the ambassador and the general with ‘security’.

In parallel, hundreds of citizens got stuck in their cars after the road was blocked, while journalists and photo journalists were banned from escorting the delegation.

To whom it may concern, this in one more example on the US violation of Lebanese sovereignty…
