An “Israeli”-Canadian lobbyist and his company have struck a $2 million deal to promote the narrative of the junta running Myanmar since the February coup, AFP reported on Wednesday.

The agency cited documents submitted to the US Justice Department as revealing an accord the junta signed with lobbyist Ari Ben-Menashe and his Montreal-based firm Dickens and Madson on March 4.

Under the deal, the company is expected to promote the military government's interests in the US, Saudi Arabia, UAE, the “Israeli” entity, Russia and other nations, as well as multiple international bodies like the UN.

One of the things the company is expected to do is "assist in explaining the real situation in the country", while also working to remove the international sanctions on the country.

The fee is set to be covered "when legally permissible by controlling jurisdictions," the document says, with Myanmar now under new US restrictions.

As protests against military takeover continue in the country, the security forces are mounting an increasingly brutal crackdown, with some 2,000 people arrested and over 60 killed.
