Syrian Foreign Ministry said Syria has repeatedly called on the Security Council to condemn the ‘Israeli’ attacks on the country’s sovereignty and safety of its territories and take decisive and immediate procedures to stop these attacks and hold the Zionist occupation entity accountable for the attacks.

“This new aggression comes two days after the US air’s coward aggression on Syrian sovereignty in Deir Ezzor province on the Syrian–Iraqi borders in light of the support and protection of the successive US administrations and some western countries to ‘Israel’,” the Syrian ministry said in a letter addressed to United Nations [UN] Secretary General and president of Security Council [SC].

The letter noted that the ‘Israeli’ enemy carried out its flagrant attack, based on systematized allegations and lies that are being used by all aggressors against Syria’s sovereignty, including the US and ‘Israeli’ occupations.

It also affirmed that those pretexts are nothing but open attempts to practice misleading and distort the facts and to cover the Zionist entity’s responsibility for its dangerous aggressive approach, its practicing of 'state' terrorism and its continuous support for armed terrorist groups.

“Syria reaffirms that it will not hesitate to practice its right in defending its land, its people, and its sovereignty by all means guaranteed by UN Charter and the rules of the international law,” the statement added.

The ministry called on the Security Council [UNSC] to assume its responsibility in the framework of UN Charter, most importantly is to keep international peace and security, and to force the ‘Israeli’ entity to respect resolutions related to the Disengagement forces Agreement of 1974.
