Chief Commander of Iran's Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi described the potential expulsion of the American forces from the region as the most fractional part of Iran’s ongoing “harsh revenge” against the US over its assassination of the country’s senior anti-terror military commander.

Major General Mousavi made the remarks on Wednesday, the second day of massive joint UAV drills by the Army’s Ground, Air, Air Defense, and Navy Forces.

“The smallest goal that is pursued by us in this revenge strike is the expulsion and cutting off of the feet of the Americans from the region,” he said, calling the prospect one of the “strategic objectives” of the retaliation process.

The country’s enemy is flaunting its “hollow grandeur” thinking it can confront Iran’s retribution, Mousavi said, referring to the United States and its allied forces’ recurrent heavily propagandized aerial and naval maneuvers across the Gulf region.

However, the Islamic Republic has the upper hand concerning the reprisal, because “it is us, who determines the time, place, and proportion of the revenge strike,” Mousavi noted.

On January 3 last year, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard [IRG], and the deputy head of Iraq’s anti-terror Popular Mobilization Units [PMU], Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were assassinated along with their companions in a US terror drone strike authorized by President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport.

Both the popular commanders had played key roles in eliminating the US-backed Daesh [the Arabic acronym for ‘ISIS/ISIL’] Takfiri terrorist group in the region, particularly in Iraq and Syria.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei warned soon after the atrocity about a pending “harsh revenge.”

The IRG fired volleys of ballistic missiles at two US military bases in Iraq five days after the assassinations. According to the US War Department, more than 110 American forces suffered “traumatic brain injuries” during the counterstrikes. The IRG, however, said Washington uses the term to mask the number of the Americans, who perished as a result of the retaliation.

Iran has also issued an arrest warrant and asked the Interpol for help in detaining Trump and several other US military and political leaders behind the targeted killings.

Recently, Imam Khamenei said revenge for the Iranian general was certain and would be exacted at the right time.

Mousavi said if the enemy perpetrated any miscalculations by committing an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic, “it is sure to receive such a response by the Iranian Armed Forces that will make it regret whatever it has done so far.”

Referring to the drone maneuvers that enlisted hundreds of military drones in the eastern Semnan Province’s general area and some of the country’s border stretches, the commander said the maneuvers served as a warning to Iran’s enemies to “start thinking and avoid any blunder in their calculations.”

The official, meanwhile, noted that the exercises had only recruited a small part of the country’s drone power, adding, “Our drone capabilities are considerably more than what was witnessed [in the drills].”
