Iranian President Hassan Rouhani highlighted the Islamic Republic’s successful resistance in the face of enemy pressures and economic war and said his administration embraces foreign investors and entrepreneurs following the failure of enemy plots.

“In the past three years of [the US] economic war, Iran proved that it will not surrender and the enemies suffered a humiliating defeat,” Rouhani said on Thursday while inaugurating the Lordegan Petrochemical Company in the southwestern province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, apparently referring to US President Donald Trump’s election loss.

He further described Iran’s economy as “large” and “resistive”, stressing that no power has the ability to eliminate Iran thanks to its geopolitical position. “Many came to destroy Iran but failed to do so,” Rouhani stressed.

A prosperous and forward-looking Iran is important both to the region and the world, Rouhani said, adding, “The Iranian government and nation welcome the presence of foreign investors [in Iran] in the framework of [investment’s] rules and regulations”.

On Wednesday, Rouhani described the termination of “Trumpism” as a testimony to the Iranian nation’s victory in an economic war imposed by the US government.

He praised the Iranian people for withstanding the economic war that the administration of outgoing Trump intensified over the past three years.

“One of the major signs of the Iranian nation’s victory and the definite and certain defeat of the enemy in this economic war is an end to the era of Trumpism,” Rouhani added.
