Despite incomplete results from several battleground states that could determine the outcome of the US presidential race, President Donald Trump early on Wednesday proclaimed victory over Democratic challenger Joe Biden and thanked the Americans for voting for him.

Trump attacked legitimate vote counting efforts in remarks from the White House early Wednesday, suggesting attempts to tally all ballots amounted to disenfranchising his supporters.

"Millions and millions of people voted for us," Trump said in the East Room. "A very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise that group of people."

His remarks were laced with misleading statements and outright falsehoods. He insisted that states where vote tallies currently show him leading should be called in his favor, despite significant outstanding votes yet to be counted.

“We’re getting ready for celebrations,” Trump said, adding that “We won states that weren’t expected.”

“We’re winning Pennsylvania. Florida is a tremendous victory. We already have won,” Trump went on to say.

"Frankly we did win this election," Trump told supporters at the White House, despite millions of votes still outstanding.

"We were getting ready for a big celebration. We were winning everything. And all of a sudden it was just called off," he said.

But election results were still not finalized and projections from major networks and Edison Research showed Trump still short of the 270 electoral votes need to win re-election.

Meanwhile, Trump baselessly claimed a fraud was being committed. "This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country."

He then said he’s going to supreme court to stop all vote counting.
