US President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trial on Monday, just hours after White House officials announced he tested negative.

“I went through it and now they say I’m immune,” he told crowds in Sanford, Florida, near Orlando.

“I feel so powerful. I’ll just walk in there, I’ll kiss everyone in that audience.”

Trump was unable to continue his campaign ahead of presidential elections against Democratic nominee Joe Biden on November 3, due to contracting COVID-19. At the Florida rally, he was in “great shape.”

"I can share with you that he tested negative, on consecutive days, using the Abbot BinaxNOW antigen card," Sean Conley said in a memo released to the public.

Trump is trailing in polls to Biden, although the president pointed out to supporters that his previous Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, was also ahead of him in polls before defeating her in 2016.

“Four years ago we had the same thing,” he said. “We are going to lose Florida, they said four years ago. Twenty-two days from now, we are going to win this state, we are going to win four more years in the White House!”

"Trump knew how dangerous the disease was but did nothing," Biden said, who has refrained from mass gatherings due to the coronavirus. "Why didn't he tell us? Why didn't he warn us?"

"His reckless personal conduct since his diagnosis has been unconscionable," Biden added. "The longer Donald Trump is president, the more reckless he seems to get."
