Lebanon Confirms 685 New Coronavirus Cases, Four Deaths

Lebanon confirmed 685 new coronavirus cases and four deaths Thursday, bringing the total number of registered cases in the country to 26,768.

Of the new cases, 669 were detected among the local population and 16 among travelers from abroad. There has been a total of 263 deaths due to coronavirus complications since the illness was first detected nearly seven months ago.

The new cases were detected among 11,791 administered tests in the last 24 hours.

A new wave of coronavirus infections followed the August 4 port blast and the number of new cases registered each day remains elevated, rarely falling below 400 cases since mid-August. Local test positivity between September 3-16 increased by 14 percent, averaging 7.5%.
