Hezbollah Secretary General His Eminence Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a televised speech marking the first night of Ashura, which begins on the first day of Muharram, also the same day of the new Hijri year.

Sayyed Nasrallah underscored that the most important threat today our region is facing is the existence of the occupying Zionist entity.

His Eminence further advised that “if you want to confront the “Israeli” enemy, you must be aware of Palestine’s history as well as the history of its invaders.”

Lashing out at the history of the United States, Sayyed Nasrallah stressed that “we know that it is a country built on settlements as horrible massacres have been committed against the indigenous population.”

Today, the US resembles the greatest challenge to the peoples of the world and the greatest threat to international peace and security, His Eminence noted, stressing that “the US is a racist and savage state that has been established on unjust foundations and racial discrimination.”

“The US hides behind fabricated media, fraud and disinformation policies,” the resistance leader added, making clear that “by understanding America's past and history, we know its reality and the way we must deal with it.”

Sayyed Nasrallah also stressed that it is by no means possible “to differentiate between the US and “Israel” by the nature of both entities’ existence.”

Commenting on the United Arab Emirates’ latest deal of normalizing ties with the Zionist regime, Sayyed Nasrallah emphasized that “the "peace" agreements and the blockade are all pressures to make the Palestinian people surrender.”

Hezbollah decided this year to hold the Ashura ceremonies via media outlets as part of abiding by health precautions and to avoid congregations to limit the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The tenth of Muharram marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein and 72 of his companions in 680 Hijri, in Iraq’s Karbala.
