Military affairs commentator for “Israeli” Walla website, Amir Bohbot, said that the occupation army decided to keep reinforcements along the northern frontier following the Shebaa Farms incident.

Artillery, armored vehicles, special units, military police, and other forces were deployed along all junctions leading to the borders. Amid fear of further operations, these units are backed by round-the-clock aerial reconnaissance, and wiretaps put in place by the Intelligence Division.

According to Bohbot, the morale of the soldiers who remain in the border areas has been dampened – they are content with eating less and eating fresh food.

"Last Tuesday, a huge explosion rocked the Beirut port. It literally shook Lebanon. “Israeli” army officers and a number of analysts forecast that this historic incident in Lebanon would weaken the hand of [Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan] Nasrallah and distance the confrontation from the borders with ‘Israel’," Bohbot said.

“But on Friday, [Sayyed] Nasrallah delivered a speech in which he said that his organization had nothing to do with the explosion in Beirut and sent threatening messages to Tel Aviv. These included references to his knowledge about the Haifa port. And this is more than an implicit threat to launch missiles at Haifa Bay.”

Bohbot added that “the day before yesterday, people in Lebanon lost their patience, and thousands took to the streets. It is unclear what the future will bring to the land of the Cedars, but what is true so far is that the army is on very high alert along the northern borders for 17 days out of fear of an attack by Hezbollah. It is true that citizens and tourists are carrying on with their lives normally in the north, but those concerned in the “Israeli” army are completely dissatisfied with the current situation … They preferred that the Operations Division of the General Staff allow the forces to conduct training, continue rehabilitation, prepare for war, and focus attention on concrete challenges.”

Bohbot says that “[Sayyed] Nasrallah is reading 'Israel' like an open book and is taking advantage of the political tension between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Security Minister [war minister] Gantz, who are still fighting in the mud, while another election battle is looming in the background. He understands well that the “Israeli” army is not concerned with heating up the Lebanese borders, and that it is more appropriate for it to continue launching attacks on Syria to prevent Iran from establishing itself or Hezbollah from developing precision weapons."

According to Bohbot, the facts indicate that the rules of the game have changed, and at this stage, “they are in [Sayyed] Nasrallah’s favor. In such a cumulative situation, the “Israeli” army needs to speak less and make threats in a more realistic manner."
