Former Iranian Parliament speaker Ali Larijani tested positive for the coronavirus for a second time.

Larijani, who is now an adviser of Leader of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Sayyed Ali Khamenei, and a member of the Expediency Council, tested positive on Wednesday after developing COVID-19 symptoms, media reported.

He first tested positive on April 3 and was discharged from hospital after recovering two weeks later.

Tasnim news agency cited informed sources as saying that Larijani is now under quarantine in a hospital in Tehran and his general health condition is good.

Iran has been among the countries hardest hit by the new coronavirus, which first showed up in China in late December 2019 before spreading to other parts of the world.
