Member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly to Al-Ahed: Supporting the Axis of Resistance Is One of Our Priorities
By Mokhtar Haddad
Tehran - In an exclusive interview with Al-Ahed, Dr. Mohsen Pirhadi, a member of the Presidency of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, outlined the Iranian parliament’s top priorities.
Replying to a question about the Assembly’s program and priorities, especially on the topic of strengthening parliamentary relations with Islamic countries, Pirhadi explained that “the top priority of the 11th parliament is the economy and living conditions.”
“We must focus on strengthening economic and diplomatic relations. In addition to the economic aspect, providing effective support to the resistance in southwestern Asia is also one of our priorities," he said.
"The situation in the region will not be what it was," Pirhadi added. This is especially true after the Americans "assassinated martyr commander, General Hajj Qassem Soleimani. The people of the region will follow the path of this great martyr and will achieve pride and victory."
The Iranian lawmaker stated that the 11th parliament will adopt parliamentary consultations, send friendship delegations to various countries, and help organize the government’s path in the direction of attaining pride, wisdom, and utilitarianism.
When it comes to the parliament’s role in confronting American and Western measures, Pirhadi stated that his “country has gained great experience in recent years and paid a lot for that. Let our friends and enemies know that we will not have a path of trust and optimism with America. We will not rely on European countries for anything; we emphasize strengthening the local capabilities that our country has, looking to the inside, interacting with neighboring countries, enhancing internal strength, and building a network of countries against domination and arrogance, as was evident within one month since the new parliament took office."
In this context, Pirhadi notes that "comprehensive support for the resistance front is the permanent policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The causes of Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Bahrain and other countries of the Islamic world are among the most important priorities of the National Security Committee and the foreign policy of the Islamic Consultative Assembly."
"After the martyrdom of commander Soleimani and the strong response of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, the pace of developments in the region accelerated and we are studying the situation carefully," Pirhadi added.
Pirhadi also touched on the high number of young parliamentarians and his interest in their role. "One of the most prominent expressions of the statement of the second step of the Islamic Revolution is the word of the youth and the emphasis on the role of the younger generation, to the extent that this statement was written specifically for the young people."
"The composition of the 11th parliament is more youthful than previous parliaments. For example, half of the elected representatives in the districts of Tehran, Vari, Shemiranat, Eslamshahr, and Bardis are young people. The Speaker of Parliament also reiterated the importance of the youth element. The blessings of the youth have appeared in the country. God willing, the competent and righteous youth will solve the problems of the people and the homeland in the various sectors.”
