‘Israeli’ occupation’s tanks Tuesday crossed the technical fence on the side of the border with Lebanon for the first-time since the July 2006 War.

A circulated video showed Lebanese Army soldiers – some armed with anti-tank grenade launchers – are seen engaged in a tense stand-off with at least two ‘Israeli’ “Merkava” tanks just south of the Lebanese town of Adaisseh, with both sides separated by a contingent of UNIFIL troops.

The tanks, however, were not thought to have crossed into Lebanese territory despite having crossed the technical fence itself, owing to the existence of an effective no-mans-land in the area around the town.

Along with a contingent of infantry troops, the ‘Israeli’ tanks were believed to be conducting military exercises, according to the state-run National News Agency.

Relatively, al-Manar TV reported that ‘Israeli’ media had apparently gathered at the border prior to the incursion.

This marks the second time a faceoff between Lebanese and ‘Israeli’ troops to have occurred across the fence in recent months after ‘Israeli’ occupation troops crossing the boundary.

Earlier Tuesday, ‘Israeli’ forces handed over to Lebanese authorities a shepherd who had been shot by their soldiers last month while his herd of goats were grazing in the occupied Shebaa Farms.

‘Israel’ claims that the shooting in May took place after the shepherd crossed onto its side of the UN-demarcated Blue Line.
