The “Israeli” Occupation Forces [IOF] on Friday morning, prevented the Palestinians from reaching the Ibrahimi Mosque in the West Bank in al-Khalil [Hebron] to perform the Fajr prayer, and also prohibited the mosque muezzin from raising the call to prayer.

The Director of the Endowments of al-Khalil province, Hefzi Abu Sunainah, said that the IOF set up their military checkpoints, and tightened their procedures on electronic gates and roads leading to the Ibrahimi Mosque, and prevented citizens from accessing it.

He further added that the “Israelis” allowed only a few people to enter, and also expelled the Palestinians who gathered to perform the prayers in outer square of the complex.

The IOF, which also stormed the Ibrahimi Mosque, also prevented the muezzin Seraj Al-Sharif from raising the call to prayer and forcibly threw him out, and detained a young man for several hours.

Abu Sunainah denounced the “Israeli” entity’s measures aimed at emptying the sanctuary of worshipers, through repressive and arbitrary measures such as closing electronic gates and obstructing the movement of Palestinians at military checkpoints.

Preventing worshipers from reaching the Ibrahimi Mosque was considered an infringement on Islamic sanctities sponsored by international treaties that guaranteed freedom of worship.

Meanwhile, former “Israeli” Minister of War Naftali Bennett  approved a settlement project in al-Khalil [Hebron], which includes the seizure of private Palestinian land in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, to construct a road that settlers and “Israeli” extremists can storm into, as well as erect a lift for them.
