Lebanese FM Summons German Amb.: Hezbollah Represents Big Group of the Lebanese People, Part of Parliament

Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti summoned German Ambassador to Beirut after Germany’s decision to blacklist Hezbollah.

Ambassador Georg Birgelen told minister Hitti that the decision has been taken since a while, adding that it doesn’t designate Hezbollah as a terrorist organization but bans its activities on German soil.

For his part, Hitti stressed that Hezbollah is a main component in the country and represents a big group of the Lebanese people, adding that it is part of the Lebanese Parliament.

Berlin on Thursday designated Hezbollah as a “terrorist organization,” banned all its activities in the European country and ordered raids on sites police claimed were linked to the movement.
