Leader of ‘Israeli’ Yesh Atid party Yair Lapid excoriated his former political ally Benny Gantz Tuesday, calling his decision to join the Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu-led government “the worst act of fraud in the history of ‘Israel’.”

Lapid, who had partnered with the Blue and Party leader for more than a year through three election cycles, said Monday evening that everything was done to "save Benjamin Netanyahu from the court," referring to three corruption indictments Netanyahu is facing for bribery, breach of trust and fraud.

"Instead of fighting the coronavirus, they’re fighting the Supreme Court. Instead of a compensation mechanism to save small businesses, they’re saving Netanyahu from his legal troubles,” Lapid said during a press conference held in Tel Aviv. Netanyahu, however, denies all allegations of wrongdoing.

Showing his resolve, Lapid said he's "never been more determined in my life" to fight the ruling coalition “in the Knesset, in the courts, in the streets, and in the squares.”
