Clashes between the Zionist Police units and members of the ultra-Orthodox community erupted inside the occupied al-Quds neighborhood of Mea Shearim after stones were used to protest the 'Israeli' government restrictions on movement in light of the coronavirus epidemic.

Police said "dozens of people" participated in the protest, "breaking the peace and throwing stones at law enforcement who repelled the protesters" with crowd dispersal measures. Five individuals were arrested, police officials added.

The protest took place after the government relaxed restrictions and ended its lockdown measures on occupied al-Quds neighborhoods hard-hit by COVID-19.

The government had initially decided to close off several districts of the capital, mainly ultra-Orthodox communities until April 19.
