Lebanese Foreign Ministry filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council [UNSC] in New York Thursday after three Zionist warplanes flew over Lebanese airspace to launch missiles on the Syrian central province of Homs.

The complaint stated that the grave ‘Israeli’ violation posed a threat to the safety of the Lebanese people at a time when the world was facing the danger of a coronavirus pandemic, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The ministry appealed to the UNSC to put an end to the ‘Israeli’ violations, as the Zionist entity continues to violate Lebanese sovereignty on a daily bases by air, land and sea.

Syrian state TV Tuesday said the warplanes fired the missiles while flying in Lebanese airspace.

The outlet said the warplanes targeted a Syrian army position without mentioning the exact location. It added that some of the missiles were shot down by Syrian air defenses.

Residents of Beirut heard the sound of warplanes shortly before the airstrikes were reported.
