US Envoy in Lebanon Summoned Over Evacuation of ‘Israeli’ Agent Accused of Prisoner Torture
By Staff, Agencies
The US ambassador to Lebanon was summoned Friday by Beirut's Foreign Ministry over the evacuation of a Lebanese-American ‘Israeli’ agent accused of torture.
Amer Fakhoury left the country on Thursday onboard a V-22 Osprey which took off from the United States diplomatic compound.
Earlier this week, he was released under a judge's ruling as the charges against him expired, but the decision was contested by a military court, which barred Fakhoury from leaving the country.
Fakhoury is accused of abusing prisoners at a detention facility operated by the ‘Israeli’ occupation’s affiliate, so-called South Lebanon Army, a militia which operated under ‘Israeli’ command in 1980-s and 1990-s.
The circumstances of his escape remain unclear.
