Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council [SNSC] Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said there might be links between the US regime's move to assassinate top Iranian commander Lietenant General Qassem Soleimani and its recent claims about the attack on its base in Iraq.
"In a visit to Iraq, I called on the country's officials to find the domestic traces of the operation to assassinate Martyrs Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, and disclose their names," Shamkhani posted on his Twitter account on Friday.
"It seems there are commonalities between the assassination plot and the US claim about the attack on Taji base," he noted.
On January 3, Lt. Gen. Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of the Hashd al-Shaabi were assassinated along with a number of their comrades in a US drone attack near the Baghdad International Airport.
Following the attack, the Iraqi resistance groups vowed revenge for the assassination of their top commander.
