The “Israeli” entity's Likud party, led by caretaker Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, issued a formal plea Thursday, urging the entity’s Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit to open a graft probe into Yisrael Beiteinu chief Avigdor Lieberman.

According to the Times of “Israel”, Likud called on the AG to look into Lieberman’s alleged role in a corruption affair involving several Yisrael Beiteinu official, unveiled by the police in a three-year investigation – one of the largest ones in the entity’s history.

While revealing a whole corruption infrastructure that included a range of politicians and private companies and resulting in 36 arrests, the probe never established grounds for any charges against Lieberman specifically.

Likud, however, urged the AG to look into an army firing range that was earmarked for allowing construction in the area under Lieberman’s tenure as War Minister.

Lieberman’s response, delivered on his party's Twitter handle, was quite laconic.

The call for a probe came after Lieberman said his party would back a law preventing an indicted lawmaker from forming a government – an idea brought up by the Blue and White to prevent Netanyahu's possible premiership as his corruption trial is about to kick off.

Likud condemned the proposed bill, lashing out at the Blue and White for promoting what it said was an undemocratic initiative robbing millions of “Israelis” of their votes.
