Yemen: 2020 A Year of Weapons Development, Advancement of Strategic ‘Balanced Deterrence’

Yemen’s Defense Minister, Major General Mohammed Nasser Al-Atefi, confirmed on Sunday, that the year 2020 is the year of Air Defenses and Yemen's Sky is no longer available. This came during the inaugurating of Martyr Abdulaziz Muharram exhibition for Air Defense system missiles.
Al-Atefi confirmed that "2020 is the year of great victories, God willing, and the year of development and upgrading strategic weapons for balanced deterrence."
Meanwhile, the Armed Forces spokesman, Brigadier General Yehya Saree, assured the Yemeni people that "the armed forces will do their utmost to defend this country, its dignity and sovereignty."
For his part, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council Mahdi al-Mashat unveiled on the same day four new Air Defense systems, Thaqib-1, Thaqib-2, Thaqib-3 and Fatir-1, which were developed with purely Yemeni expertise.
“The new defense systems will change the course of the battle with the US-Saudi aggression, and will provide a start to more sophisticated and effective defense systems in countering enemy air targets,” al-Mashat said.
He further praised the efforts of the Ministry of Defense leadership and the chairmanship of the General Staff in various fields, including the development and modernization of the military industries system in line with the requirements of the battle of confrontation and deterring the forces of aggression.
He pointed out that this qualitative achievement came as the Leader of the Ansarullah revolutionary movement Sayyed Abdulmalik Badreddine al-Houthi, promised in strengthening and developing defense capabilities, confirming that 2020 will be a year for air defense.
