Iran Undermined US Power: IRGC Commander

Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps [IRGC] Major General Hossein Salami highlighted Iran’s recent victories against the US, saying the Islamic Republic managed to undermine the Washington government’s power.

“In the 41-year-old history of the Iranian nation’s battle against its enemies, we have witnessed bright pages of the nation’s unique and strategic victories,” Major General Salami said, addressing a gathering in the southern province of Bushehr on Wednesday.

“The Iranian nation has defeated the fundamental policies of the enemy in the region and the world,” Salami said.

“The great Iran has undermined the US power, and we are seeing the effects of its decay today,” the top commander added.

He further pointed to the US move to assassinate Iran’s revered commander, Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, and said the enemy tried to make up for “all its serial defeats and numerous successive failures” through the assassination.

The White House and the Pentagon claimed responsibility for the assassination of General Soleimani in Iraq, saying the attack was carried out at the direction of US President Donald Trump.

In the early hours of last Wednesday, the IRGC targeted the US airbase of Ain al-Assad in retaliation for the assassination.
