The Trump administration is already in danger of losing control after the crime of assassinating Iranian Lieutenant General Martyr Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi resistance Leader Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

According to the CNN “[US] President Donald Trump's claim that the drone strike last week made Americans safer is being challenging by cascading events that appear to leave the US more vulnerable and isolated.”

The administration's basis for the attack also came under renewed suspicion after Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told CNN that it was not "relevant" for him to reveal how imminent the attacks on US interests were that Trump claimed Soleimani was planning.

In proliferating signs of the deepening crisis, Iran on Sunday announced that it was shaking off restrictions on its uranium enrichment under the Obama-era nuclear deal. Iraq's parliament voted to expel US troops.
Trump’s critics, meanwhile, warned that that the costs of killing him may outweigh the benefits.

"I don't know what the President's motivation here is but I think it was a reckless decision that increased the risk to Americans all around the world, not decreased it," House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff told CNN.

Late Sunday evening, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House would introduce a "War Powers Resolution to limit the President's military actions regarding Iran," saying Congress' first responsibility is to "keep the American people safe."

"Last week, the Trump Administration conducted a provocative and disproportionate military airstrike targeting high-level Iranian military officials. This action endangered our service members, diplomats and others by risking a serious escalation of tensions with Iran," Pelosi wrote in a letter to House Democrats announcing the resolution.

Earlier, Ilhan Omar tweeted: “I am introducing a War Powers Resolution in the House with @BLeeforCongress to prevent an illegal war with Iran. We must not allow this President to send our men and women into harm’s way without Congressional authority.”

Urging the Americans to sign a petition MoveOn.org/NoWarWithIran to prevent a war with Iran, Omar further quoted President Candidate Bernie Sanders as saying:  “The American people do not want endless war! We cannot allow Trump to drag us into war with Iran. We must prevent what would be an unmitigated disaster.”

“We must do more than just stop war with Iran,” she added.

The US Senator further noted “We must firmly commit to ending US military presence in the Middle East in an orderly manner. We must end our involvement in the Saudi-led intervention in Yemen. We must bring our troops home from Afghanistan.”

For her part, Candidate for President and Senator Tulsi Gabbard tweeted under the hashtag: #TrumpsWar: “We need to get out of Iraq and Syria now. That is the only way that we're going to prevent ourselves from being dragged into this quagmire, deeper and deeper into a war with Iran.”

Similarly, the Senator, former Vice President, and 2020 candidate for US Presidency Joe Biden tweeted: “The prospect of direct conflict with Iran is greater than ever. Does Donald Trump have a strategy for what comes next? Nothing we have seen from this Administration suggests that they are prepared to deal with the risks we now confront.”

In parallel, he added: “The more the walls close in on this guy [Trump], the more irrational he becomes.”

“Hey @realDonaldTrump, do you think the American people want another war in the Middle East?” he asked.

Additionally, Chris Murphy tweeted that:

Pompeo just said “Americans in the region are much safer today”.

That’s obviously not true. We are immediately evacuating all Americans from Iraq.

At this perilous moment, the Administrarion must be truthful about what they did and the consequences.

This isn’t a good start.
