US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed in a ‘promise’ to the US allies on Thursday that the country would keep up the fight against Daesh [the Arabic acronym for terrorist ‘ISIS/ISIL’ group] but demanded action from them in turn, including the repatriation of thousands of terrorists from Syria.

Senior officials from more than 30 countries discussed the campaign against the extremists during a meeting in Washington, which has been particularly concerned by US President Donald Trump's decision last month to pull his troops from Syria.

Pompeo said US forces remain positioned to "make sure Daesh will never get a second wind," adding, "The United States will continue to lead the coalition and the world on this essential security effort."

He urged European allies both to fund stabilization programs in Syria and take back citizens who joined the terrorist group.
