A gunman killed four people and injured several others at a college Halloween party at an Airbnb in California.
Police were summoned at around 11pm on Thursday to Lucille Way, Orinda County, where around 100 young people had been partying in a rented property.
Officers described feeling overwhelmed by the sheer numbers at the chaotic house party, where at least four were dead and others seriously wounded, according to KTVU.
Witnesses said the students at the party were from Laney College, NBC reported.
Contra Costa County Sheriff's office tweeted: 'Orinda Police Department and Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff are working a multiple shooting in Orinda. Investigation is active. Details coming later.'
Video footage showed numerous ambulances and police vehicles arriving.
A neighbor said he heard cracks of gunfire erupting in the house and later talked to the homeowner who said it had been rented out through Airbnb.
