US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced on Wednesday that she would be officially withdrawing her bid for president in the 2020 election, as crowded field continues to narrow.

Gillibrand posted on Twitter along with a video that she is ending her campaign, but urged her supporters to "go beat Donald Trump" and to "win back" the Senate.

Donald Trump responded to her campaign withdrawal calling it "a sad day for Democrats."

"I'm glad they never found out that she was the one I was really afraid of," he added in a snarky remark.

Currently, former Vice-President Joe Biden leads the pack with little wavering, as Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris trail significantly behind.

Gillibrand just barely qualified for the third round of Democratic primary debates but she was unable to meet donor and polling thresholds, according to CNN.

Congressman Eric Swalwell was the first candidate to drop out of the Democratic Party race.
