Ynet: “Israeli” Fear of Confronting Hezbollah Doubles
Translated by Staff, Ynet
As tensions mount on the northern borders of the occupied Palestinian territories, authority officials in the “Israeli” entity warned of the gaps in the fortification of various front-line settlements, “Israeli” Ynet reported.
"It is great to ask us to show how fortified our cities are, but how do we do that? We don't have rooms for emergency or emergency operations center; we neither have any communication equipment, nor do we have electricity. Is this how they want me to do my job during an emergency?"
According to the daily, the “Israeli” entity’s so-called Ministerial Committee on National Security Affairs had set a plan last year to improve the buildings’ security. Though, the Ynet report pointed to what then Minister of War Avigdor Lieberman said regarding the government burying away the plan.
Gabi Naaman, the chairman of Shlomi settlement council, said that "among 2,100 homes in Shlomi, 1,000 are without fortified rooms". He further added, “There is a hostile and frightening threat posed by Hezbollah that could fire 1,000 rockets a day. They promised 500 million NIS [approximately $142 million] to fortify the north; but the money does not exist and we doubt that we will see any of it”.
For his part, Moshe Davidovich, the chairman of "Mateh Asher Regional Council" and the head of the so-called front-line towns, expressed concerns over the lack fortifications in buildings. "It is all talk," he said, adding, “Nothing has been done. 40% of the 180,000 front-line residents live in 20 unprotected towns.”
