The Air Force of the Yemeni Army and Popular Committees, on Saturday, carried out retaliatory operations on an airbase in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern province of Asir, using a squadron of domestically-manufactured combat drones.

Spokesman for the Armed Forces Brigadier General Yehya Saree said in a brief statement that a number of Qasef-2K drones conducted airstrikes against King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

He added that the drones hit fighter jets hangers and runways at the base. He said all drones successfully hit their designated targets.

Saree said the attacks were in response to “the US-Saudi ongoing aggression and siege on Yemen.”

For their part, air traffic watch centers showed disturbance in airplanes routes after Qasef-2K attack on the Saudi base, pointing out that a plane that was about to land at Abha Airport near King Khalid Air Base return to where it had taken off in Jeddah International Airport.

The Yemeni Air Force carried out two attacks on Thursday with a number of Qasef-2K against vital targets in King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, where one of the drones hit the base’s communications system while others targeted its fuel tanks and a gas station at the base. All drones successfully hit their designated targets.
