Nothing on earth adversely affects the collective psyche of a nation like military defeat and occupation. The scar remains for thousands of years blighting the minds of countless generations until the enemy is finally defeated and national pride is restored.
Today marks the second anniversary of the defeat of the Zionist military at the hands of Hizbullah Lebanese resistance in the 33-day war.
Tales of courage and sacrifice during the war ring out with pride and joy throughout Lebanon: a nation that had suffered in the grip of Zionist occupation and desperately needed to regain its self-confidence and pride of place among the Middle Eastern communities.
Hizbullah resistance made it look so easy to beat the world's so-called fourth best army, and the strange thing was that Lebanese people driven from their homes by the Zionist aggression never really unpacked elsewhere. Somehow they all knew that 33 days in the summer of 2006 belonged to them.
And gentlemen in Lebanon who did not partake in the defense of their country must think themselves accursed they were not there; and hold their manhoods cheap.
Lebanon was liberated from the spiritual torture of Zionist occupation of almost twenty five years earlier and Lebanon exacted the calumny of psychological pain of defeat on the Zionist regime.
Enemies remain within Lebanese borders and their paid agents tried to sully the glorious remembrance day of Lebanon's 2006 victory over Zionist aggression and racism.
A bomb planted on the side of a main street tore apart a bus carrying civilians and members of the Lebanese military on Wednesday morning rush-hour in the northern city of Tripoli, killing at least 18 people and wounding 46 others.
And similar acts may be repeated in the future but all in the Middle East know that the damage that Lebanese resistance has done to the Zionist regime and ideology cannot be reversed through any measure.
He who has no stomach to this fight, we would not die in that man's company.
But it is all too late. Acts of violence against Lebanon will only bring the Lebanese nation closer together; the proof of which is Hizbullah's elevated position among the country's social, political and military strata.
Lebanon is back and victorious owing to one courageous campaign led by those who loved their land and the glory of God over the material temptations of this world.
Lebanon's victory in 2006 has become an epic relayed from father to son for centuries to come. The Zionist regime on the other hand will never be able to live down the pummeling it got from a happy few, a band of brothers.
God bless all children who keep the faith.
