US-Russia Probe: Trump Urges Democrats to End ’Phony Investigations’
By Staff, Agencies
US President Donald Trump lashed out at the Democratic Party on Wednesday, saying they need to "end phony investigations" in a reference to the Russia election meddling probe.
Calling himself the "most transparent president in the history" of the United States, Trump attacked US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for accusing him of "covering up" the investigation.
"I came here to do an infrastructure meeting with Democrats — not really thinking that they wanted to do infrastructure or anything else other than investigate. And I just saw that Nancy Pelosi, just before our meeting made a statement that we believe that 'the President of the United States is engaged in a cover-up.' It turns out I'm the most — I think most of you would agree to this — I'm the most transparent president probably in the history of this country," Trump claimed.
"I don't do cover-ups. So get these phony investigations over with," Trump added.
He also called the Russia investigation the "biggest hoax in the history" of the US.
"So here is the bottom line: There was no collusion. There was no obstruction. We’ve been doing this since I’ve been President," Trump said.
