DAMASCUS, Syria--A Palestinian political group has praised Hizbullah's Operation al-Redwan" in which the Lebanese resistance group released five fighters from "Israeli" prisons, returning bodies of dozens of martyrs to Arab states in the prisoner swap deal.
Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Fadl Sharour, told Al-Alam on Friday that the logical and significant effort by the Hizbullah led to release of the prisoners and retuning of the martyrs to their home countries.
In the prisoner exchange, mediated by an UN-appointed German diplomat, the "Israeli" regime freed five Lebanese prisoners and returned the bodies of 199 martyred Lebanese and Arab resistance fighters.
Hizbullah also handed over the bodies of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev -- two soldiers captured prior to the 33-day war with "Israel" in July 12, 2006 -- to the occupying regime.
"I was the subject of a prisoner swap deal for the first time in Palestine's history with "Israel" in 1979, designated the "Al-Nours" operation," the Palestinian commander said.
"As a person who has negotiated with the "Israeli" regime in the past, I believe that our brothers in the Hizbullah movement carried out the operation in a memorable and acceptable manner," he said.
Sharour noted that Hizbullah led intense and complicated negotiations with "Israel" and "dictated" its conditions to the Zionist regime.
