Rouhani Visits Flood-Affected People, Pledges Prioritizing Their Needs

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited the flood-hit areas of Lorestan province where he pledged Saturday to prioritize needs of the affected people.

The visit aimed to oversee the rescue-and-relief operations underway in Lorestan province and give guidelines for the betterment of the humanitarian services for the people living in tents and dire situation since March.

Presiding over the provincial disaster management headquarters, Rouhani called for providing the people with guidance and instruction on how to protect themselves in case of similar disasters.

Acknowledging the measure and efforts made by respective authorities in all flood-hit provinces, particularly in cities of Lorestan and Poldokhtar, Rouhani said.

“The solidarity emerged among people, the Red Crescent and the Armed Forces repeated the unity that was seen during the years of the Sacred Defense.”

Two million Iranians have been affected by the heavy rains and flooding. The disaster claimed the lives of over 70 Iranians, wounded over 1,000 and displaced about 280,000.
