Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari said on Wednesday that while we meet to discuss Trump’s illegitimate proclamation regarding the occupied Syrian Golan, the ‘Israeli’ occupation warplanes launched an air aggression on the industrial region to the east of Aleppo, adding that the Syrian air defenses intercepted the aggression and downed a number of the hostile missiles.

Al-Jaafari added at a UN Security Council session that Syria condemns Trump’s proclamation about the Golan and consider it as a unilateral behavior issued by a side that has no political, moral or legal capacity to decide the destiny of world people or dispose with lands which are part and parcel of the Syrian territories.

He affirmed that the US practices reflect a dangerous and unprecedented inclination towards hindering the international law and a contempt to the UN, dealing a blow to the resolutions of UN Security council and the General Assembly regarding the inevitability of ending the ‘Israeli’ occupation to the occupied Arab lands and its withdrawal from them until the line of June 4th, 1967.

Al-Jaafari went on to say that the US unilateral behavior is a clear approval that Washington has no longer give any importance to the UN as well as it has withdrawn its approval and recognition of the international legitimacy and ended its role as a mediator in any peace process.

“The Syrian people consider the US as an enemy, outlaw state which occupies part of their land after it had caused the killing of thousands of Syrians and destroyed infrastructure and economy,” al-Jaafari added.

He affirmed that the Syrian people consider Trump’s proclamation as a threat to the international peace and security as well as a failing attempt to manipulate with the history and geography.

“Syria reaffirms that the occupied Golan will return… the US and ‘Israel’ shouldn’t think that a Syrian land could be part of a malicious bargain,” al-Jaafari said.

He added that Syria appreciates the international stances issued following the US flagrant declaration, saying these stances have proven to the world public opinion the isolation of US and ‘Israel.’
