The UN Security Council received Monday copies of the letters exchanged between Hizbullah and United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and between "Israel" and Ban during the negotiations leading to last week's prisoner swap, which was mediated by German intermediary Gerhard Konrad.
An official source at Ban's office told the Lebanese newspaper As-Safir Tuesday that the letters will be included in the annex of the UN secretary general's final report on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
The report was discussed at the beginning of July, and the letters' details will be revealed once they are relayed to the 15 members of the Security Council.
Last week, "Israel" released five Lebanese prisoners and the remains of almost 200 fighters in return for the bodies of two soldiers captured by Hizbullah in 2006.
Meanwhile, six "Israeli" families who lost their sons' during the 2006 war in Lebanon were informed by the "Israeli" Military on Monday night that a casket turned over by Hizbullah last week at the Rosh Hanikra border crossing, as part of the prisoner exchange deal, contained the soldiers' remains.
According to "Israeli" daily Yediot Ahronot, workers at the Forensic Medicine Institute in Abu Kabir and representatives of the Military Rabbinate examined over the past few days the body parts delivered by Hizbullah along with the bodies of captured soldiers Eldad Regev and Ehud Goldwasser.
"Six days later, the difficult work was over, including the comparing the body parts' DNA samples to the war casualties. After completing the identification, "Israeli" Army officers informed six families that the remains match their sons, and at least two of them buried the body parts in their sons' graves," the Yediot Ahronot report said.
Over a month ago, Hizbullah first transferred body parts of the war casualties following the return of Nissim Nasser to Lebanon. Five families were informed at the time that their son' remains were identified. Four of these soldiers were killed when Hizbullah shot down an "Israeli" Army chopper on August 13, 2006.
"Dealing with body parts is difficult and causes an uneasy feeling," a military source told Yediot. "However, it is our duty to the fallen soldiers and their families to bring anything possible to burial, and therefore we executed the identification with a feeling of mission."
On Monday, Hizbullah has identified 157 fighters whose bodies "Israel" returned in the prisoner swap with the Lebanese resistance group. Hizbullah says DNA tests identified the nationalities of the fighters. Among the 157 were Lebanese, Palestinian, Syrian, Jordanian and Libyan, a Kuwaiti and a Tunisian.
Twenty-one Palestinian fighters were buried Monday in a cemetery on the edge of the Sabra and Shatila Palestinian refugee camp in Beirut. Around 95 bodies will be taken to Syria on Tuesday.
Al-Manar TV said DNA tests were still under way to identify the remains of 32 other bodies.
"Israeli" media reports on Monday said the Jewish state's secret service, the Mossad, is preparing to carry out assassination operations targeting Hizbullah officials to avenge "the humiliating slap resulting from the prisoner swap deal," according to a report in "Israeli" daily Haaretz.
