Gantz: ‘Israel’ Lost Its Deterrence on Gaza Border
By Staff, Agencies
Zionist Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s challenger Benny Gantz of the freshly minted Blue & White party confessed on Friday that ‘Israel’ was losing its deterrence ability following the rocket launches from Gaza Thursday evening that reached central of the occupied territories and triggered alarm sirens in Tel Aviv for the first time since the 2014 conflict.
"In recent days and the last 24 hours, we have seen the loss of deterrence of ‘Israel’, a worn-out deterrence that is fixed by actors in Gaza,” the former Zionist military chief said during a press conference at the Gaza border that was broadcast in a ten-minute delay due to a prohibition on candidates’ self-promotion during the period leading up to elections.
The conference came as a ceasefire brokered by Egypt held Friday afternoon in which Hamas agreed to cancel its weekly Great March of Return protests in the Gaza Strip.
The ceasefire was reportedly reached after overnight ‘Israeli’ airstrikes targeting the Gaza Strip in response to two rockets that were fired towards Tel Aviv.
