Spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry Bahram Qassemi said on Thursday that the US artificial and unreal allegations are made in a bid to keep West Asia region as a stressful environment with full of complicated crises that are seemingly insolvable.

Qassemi’s remarks came in response to the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s allegations at the annual energy event, CERAWEEK, in Houston about Iran-Iraq relations.

Describing such allegations as worthless and baseless, Qassemi said the relations between the two neighboring countries of Iran and Iraq are based on the two nations’ demands as well as based on the mutual respect, confidence and interests.

Despite the US policies on interference, neither Iran nor Iraq are after imposing the will or demand on the other side, he said.

Iran and Iraq were neighbors for hundreds of years and will remain so for the next hundreds of years, he said, adding the two sides’ leaders have determined to stand by each other in difficult conditions.

“If such determination annoys the US officials, they are not allowed anyhow to talk about Tehran-Baghdad ties through undiplomatic and impolite words.”
