Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said the reason behind promotion of Daesh [the Arabic acronym for terrorist ‘ISIS/ISIL’ group] by the enemies was fanning religious and sectarian wars among regional countries.

Enemies, by creating and supporting Daesh, wanted to set the region on fire and promote animosity, war and bloodshed among people, Rouhani said addressing a meeting of heads of Iraqi tribes on Tuesday.

Regional nations with Iraqi people standing on the top have foiled this conspiracy and defeated terrorism, he said, adding it is an honor for Iran to stand by Iraqi people and government.

Despite the existing media hype, US and the West had no role in defeating Daesh and they just conducted some fake operations.

He warned that terrorism still exists and the Americans have other dreams for the region and are transferring terrorists to other places in the region, including Central Asia, Caucasus and Afghanistan.

Rouhani further called for unity and solidarity among regional countries to stand against the current threats.
