TEHRAN--In a telephone conversation with the Hizbullah leader on Thursday, Iranian parliament speaker Ali Larijani lauded Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's efforts in "bringing honor and dignity for the Lebanese nation".
On Wednesday, five Lebanese prisoners were freed from "Israeli" prisons in exchange for the bodies of two "Israeli" soldiers captured in 2006 prior to the 33-day war that dealt a blow to the "Israeli" regime's army.
"Nasrallah's smart and diplomatic move brought peace to the region and sent a message to the Zionists that they have reached a strategic dead end in the Middle East and have no way but accept the legitimacy of the Palestinian nation or face humiliation."
The Iranian parliament speaker also praised Hizbullah resistance movement's role in forming Lebanese unity government and said: "Hizbullah showed that the US diplomatic trickery is doomed to failure and the regional states are aware of its double-standard policies."
"If the US government does not quit trouble making in the region, it will face resistance by all Muslims," Larijani warned.
Nasrallah, on his part, appreciated Larijani's "encouraging" statements and said: "Your consideration is highly valued for me; we share our joys with the Iranian nation."
The Hizbullah leader also said: "The Islamic Republic has always supported the Lebanese nation, and Lebanon owes such victories to Iran."
The released Lebanese prisoners, including Samir Kintar who spent almost three decades in "Israeli" jails, received a hero's welcome upon arriving home.
Patriotic songs and excerpts of speeches by Nasrallah bellowed from loudspeakers as members of the Islamic movement lined up on the main road leading to the Naqoura border crossing.
