Lebanon Forms New Government after Months of Political Impasse
By Staff, Agencies
The long-awaited Lebanese government was finally announced on Thursday from the Presidential Palace in Baabda.
After eight months of deadlock, the 30-member government to be led by Prime Minister Saad Hariri was unveiled.
The mission was accomplished as rival political factions managed to hammer out their differences over the government line-up.
The government included most Lebanese political factions, who have been negotiating the make-up of the cabinet since a May 6 election.
Meanwhile, the cabinet included three seats for Hezbollah ministers as the following: Mahmoud Qmati as state minister, Jamil Jabaq as health minister while Mohammed Fneish maintained the earlier post as sport and youth minister.
