Qassemi Rules Out Reports on Detention Conditions of US Citizen in Iran

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday that reports released by American media outlets about detention conditions of an American citizen in Mashhad are untrue.

Confirming arrest of a US citizen named Michael White, he added that the American national was detained in Mashhad some time ago of which US Interests Section in Tehran was informed on the first days of detention.

Qassemi further stressed that some US media outlets are hyping the issue and spreading lies over conditions of the arrested US citizen but such reports are unfounded and are categorically denied.

Dossier of the person is being investigated by the competent authorities and it will be publically known as the process ends, Qassemi added.
