BEIRUT--A follow-up committee of the Lebanese opposition forces has submitted the agenda and the timetable of protest rallies to be held in the coming hours to the Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
The decision came following several rounds of meetings held by the committee to review the latest state of affairs as well as consider scenarios for the formation of national unity government in Lebanon.
It also came as the army was put on the highest level of alert and Prime Minister Fuad Siniora rejected former Prime Minister Omar Karami`s proposal for resolving the ongoing crisis.
Former president Amin Gemayel visited Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to submit a request for a 10-day political truce to ease tensions.
There was no immediate response from Berri, but after a visit to the parliament speaker, Hezbollah parliamentary head Mohammad Raad said the Phalangists` proposal was not an "appropriate settlement" to the crisis.
Raad said the opposition camp is adamantly insisting on the participation of all factions in the political process, adding it also believes that "the chance of taking a serious decision still remains".
