Bibi Narrowly Confirmed As War Minister
Local Editor
The Zionist parliament voted on Monday to confirm the appointment of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as permanent war minister, despite protests and vocal criticism from within his own government of his ‘security’ policy.
The appointment was approved by a narrow 59-56 majority. Bibi now holds four ministerial portfolios serving as war, immigration, health and foreign minister in addition to prime minister.
The vote was held one month after the Zionist leader assigned himself the war portfolio following the resignation of Avigdor Lieberman over sharp disagreements with the premier’s Gaza policies.
Since then, Netanyahu’s security policy has been criticized both by opponents and fellow right-wing lawmakers with scrutiny intensifying this week following a spate of violent attacks in the West Bank claimed by Gaza’s Hamas resistance movement.
