US expected economic chaos in Iran after Nov 4 re-imposition of sanctions against the country, but the Iranian people and economic operators in the country confounded Washington’s expectations, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday.

'Government is trying to continue the stable conditions created in economic sector,' Rouhani said after the meeting held in Tehran with participation of heads of three branches of power.

Despite the world’s criticism over Washington’s anti-Iran measures, US President Donald Trump reinstated nuclear sanctions on Tehran on November 5 and imposed as he claimed the “highest level” of economic bans on the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“Economic tranquility” in the country is tangible, and it has been promoted after November 5, he said.

About economic growth in the country, Rouhani underlined that Iran witnessed 13 percent increase in its exports during the past Iranian calendar year started on March 21, 2018.

Foolproof methods have been predicted for gaining forex income, Rouhani added.

Although US was to prevent Iran’s oil export after re-imposing fresh sanctions, Tehran can explicitly say that oil exports are now in better conditions than what it was before November 5.

'The Americans failed in the field of oil,' Rouhani added. 'In the context of OPEC, they also tried hard that the production of OPEC member states not to be reduced but the production was reduced and non-OPEC countries had the same decision.

'The Americans failed in this regard and the Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved good successes and the Iranian oil sales process will continue as it was before the summit,' Rouhani added.

Separately, Rouhani said that the situation in Yemen is such that those who wanted to occupy the country today feel that they have no way but peace with the Yemeni people.

'We have always supported Yemeni-Yemeni negotiations and are currently supporting, and today, the signs for a peace in Yemen have exceeded the past,' he noted.
