The apartheid “Israeli” forces martyred a 22-year-old Palestinian man during a raid in the northern occupied West Bank town of Tulkarm, sources said.

Several Palestinian sources reported that violent confrontations broke out after “Israeli” forces stormed the city. Ensuing clashes martyred 22-year-old Mohammed Hossam Jabali, and wounded others.

Tulkarm is a mid-sized city lying very close to the 1967 border which separates the “Israeli” entity and the occupied West Bank. It has a population of 60,000, but also includes a refugee camp which number 12,000. The city lies just 15 km away from both the Palestinian city of Nablus and the “Israeli” coastal town of Netanya.

The “Israeli” soldiers raided the city early today in large numbers, then advanced to the suburb of Arteh. A large confrontation with the population followed. “Israeli” forces also fired rubber bullets, sound grenades and live ammunition.

“Israeli” soldiers regularly carry out nightly raids across the occupied West Bank, which tend to be violent. The “Israeli” army has now erected checkpoints around Tulkarm, carrying out ID checks, according to Palestinian sources. Several residents were detained.
