North Korean Leader Kim Jong-Un met on Monday with delegates attending the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean Republic.

Kim welcomed the Baath Party delegation headed by Hilal Hilal, the party’s Assistant Regional Secretary of the Syrian Regional Branch and a representative of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in a speech expressing his great appreciation for Syria’s participation in the anniversary of the state’s founding.

The North Korean leader pointed to the deep historical ties between the two friendly countries and two parties, the Arab Baath Socialist party and the Korean Labor Party, which were founded by the historic leaders Kim Il-Sung and Hafez al-Assad respectively.

Kim expressed gratitude to President al-Assad for his honorable stances regarding the Korean issue, as well as for people's freedom in the world, stressing that Syria has been and remains one of the most loyal and supportive countries towards the DPRK in all international forums.

The North Korean leader also wished Syria a decisive victory over terrorism which is backed by global imperialist forces led by the United States – the enemies of freedom, independence and national sovereignty. He also conveyed the warmest greetings of love and pride to the Syrian leadership and people.
